As part of this lab, you will be working with live fish. In order to do that, you must first complete an online course for the FIU Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC). You do not have to complete the course in one sitting, so save your password for future use. I recommend that you start the online IACUC course as soon as you can, but submission of the certificate is not required until January 12. Completing the certificate will be part of the grade for Assignment 1.

- Open Chrome or Firefox browser and go to https://www.citiprogram.org/
- Click “Register”
- Register under your FIU email, create (and save) a password.
- Click “View Courses”
- If you do not see any courses, you need to set Florida International University as your affiliation to access their courses when setting up your profile. Do NOT pay for courses.
- Scroll to the bottom and click “Add a Course”
- Select “Animal Subjects Research” and click “Next”
- Select “Working with the FIU IACUC” and click “Next”.
- Take that course. You ONLY have to complete that course. You do not have to take any of the other courses (e.g., fish, field, etc.)
- Pass the test, and save the completion certificate PDF.
- Rename the PDF to begin with your last name and initial (e.g., SmithJ_IACUC_training.pdf).
- Submit your certificate to Canvas. Your TA will set this up as soon as they have access to Canvas.
